One of the coolest things about living in an RV is that you have less to clean. Less to clean is a perk but RV kitchens are usually pretty small and generally not jam packed with space which is a pretty big downside, especially when you’re an avid water bottle collector like myself. I’ve put together a list of gadgets that have helped me better organize my RV kitchen, to save space and to make it more efficient.
I’ve had to get creative in two different types of RV kitchens! Our fifth wheel had a bit of counter space and a double sink, but our travel trailer actually has way more counter space and also a double sink! Thankfully I’ve lucked out with counter space but sometimes it’s still not enough. In our fifth wheel we had a residentall fridge with two pull out freezer drawers which I loved sooo much, but in our travel trailer we have a standard RV fridge and top freezer that does not give me nearly as much space as I’d like. We manage though!
Now on to the gadgets!
- Adhesive spice clip grippers– these things are amazing ONLY with the right spice bottles so keep that in mind when you’re deciding how to organize your spices. They are super sticky and I’ve yet to have one fall off. I chose these because I can stick them on the inside of my pantry cabinet door and I put some on the outside of the cabinet right beside my stove top for my most used spices like salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning and paprika. Taking us back to my favorite advice for RV’s, using vertical space! Those cabinets are small enough.

- Rotating Utensil Holders– I have only three teeny tiny pull out drawers to hold alllll of my kitchen utensils, so when I was on the hunt for something to hold my bigger cooking utensils, I came across these holders with an amazing feature… they rotate! This may seem like a small feature to get excited about but I was excited. I have them hanging underneath the cabinets above my kitchen sink and so far they’ve held up wonderfully. My only suggestion would be to remove the utensils on travel day. I read that suggestion in a review and I’ve done it every time just to be safe.

- Over the sink cutting board– Hear me out, two for one. You get extra “counter space” and a cutting board with this nifty gadget! I’ll be honest, I really only purchased this product for the extra counter space to go over my double sink, but I’ve found myself using it more for the cutting board feature than I thought I would. I love how it’s expandable to the length that you need, too! Check out Julie’s post at Frugally Blonde to clean and disinfect your wooden cutting boards properly!

- Over the sink dish drying rack– YALL, I’m obsessed with these. I had one over our sink in our second house, in our fifth wheel, and in our third house. Unfortunately the way that our sink is set up in our travel trailer now does not work with an over the sink drying rack because the cabinets above it hang down too low. Sad. I literally love these so much. If you take anything from this list, let this be it because it opens up so much counter space! You can dry all of your dishes on it, hang your dish washing accessories on it and even your dish towel! There are so many different sizes too, I could probably find one to work, I just need to take the measurements first so I don’t order something that won’t work.. like I’ve done many times before! Whoops. Thank the Lord that Amazon makes returning items so easy.

- Paper Towel Holder- This one may seem simple but seriously, the less you have on your counter, the better. There are many different options available for these paper towel holders but I chose this one because it’s simple and black, which goes along with my black and white theme. I’ve seem them with little shelves on top too which would be an added plus. It’s also up to you how you choose to mount it, you could do so horizontally or vertically! I mounted mine horizontally underneath the cabinet above my sink, beside my utensil holders.

- Nesting bowls and measuring set- These are a huge space saver, kind of reminds me of the little nesting dolls my grandma (and I’m sure many other grandmas) had when I was a kid. Ah, sweet nostalgia popping up in my RV. I love these because there’s a large bowl, measuring cups, a colander and a sifter. Again, there are many options but I really like this one because of how many items come with it and also the colors are super cute. We use the big bowl for popcorn primarily, but still, it gets used often.

- Silverware drawer organizer– To prevent your silverware from being thrown all over the place, you need a silverware drawer organizer. I originally had this one from Joseph Joseph, but I found that even though I had it for quite some time, I still had to pull the silverware out of its place to figure out which spot each one went in. I like this one because it’s easy to clean and there’s a good amount of room for different types of silverware. Plus there’s an array of cute colors!

There are plenty of ways to utilize the space that you have in your RV and I hope this list has given you some ideas! I’ll keep updating as I find new gadgets and ways to make more space in our small RV kitchen.
